It’s worth $1.5 trillion, is the largest in North America and for Canada and the world a potential source of petroleum energy and work in Canada for the next one hundred years.

Canada’s oil sands, situated in north-eastern Alberta in an area larger than the state of Florida and is about to become a major avenue to explore for migrants workers wishing to move to Canada.

Oil Sands are deposits of bitumen, a sticky-like oil that will not flow unless heated or diluted with lighter hydrocarbons, only about two per cent of the initial established resource has been produced to date.

A five year deal between Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) and Petro-Canada has been signed outlining favourable rules for temporary foreign workers including paid training and payment of full-time wages for periods of unemployment if a temporary foreign worker moves between any of the 30-50 pre-approved employers.

The deal, which is only applicable to the Petro-Canada Oil Sands Project, includes three oil sands locations in Alberta.

It’s expected recruitment will begin in early December in the Philippines, India, Mexico, the Ukraine and Great Britain for areas such as engineering, procurement and construction.
