Weather Delays Keystone Pipeline

The Keystone Pipeline project is already underway in Day County but there's been a weather delay after recent heavy rain.

Keystone is working on clearing out the water but landowners are keeping a close eye on how long this delay will last and if it will affect their property.

Work on the Keystone Pipeline has halted for the day. The heavy rains have left conditions too saturated to work. Crews are busy pumping water and restoring conditions.

Clearing out the water so building the pipeline can continue is top priority for Keystone.

Four inches of rain has put them behind schedule a week, but landowners seem to be understanding about the setback.

"I mean you know you are going to have delays and like I say just so they get it back close to the way it was and as long as there are no leaks there is no problem," says Floyd Hansmeier.

Keystone says it will have environmentalists on site to make sure everything is safe and weather delays are common.

"It's not out of the ordinary. It's unfortunate in that it definitely hinders progress but it's definitely something the pipeline workers are used to dealing with."

Landowners are starting to reflect on the project as a whole.

"I can't say I am happy about it but as far as I am concerned they have treated us well. They have paid us well and as long as they get everything to the way it was before I guess I have no complaints."
