This map shows the existing footprint of development as of 2006 in the Athabasca Middle Region-- an area just South of Fort McMurray and including the community of Anzac. Includes the largest plant in operation in any tar sands region of Alberta at the OPTI-Nexen- Long Lake North site approximately 7km's from the community of Anzac. [Note: this plant operates its energy needs through the burning of waste products ("asphaltene") from its own operation]
