Conscious efforts to subvert or otherwise corrupt organizations and individuals who are concerned about social issues is a sadly long tradition. The environmental movement is no exception. Through many front groups, financial wranglings through contributions and outright blackmail, industries have tamed or corrupted many of the organizations who were once among their greatest critics and opponents. The corrupting influence on the politics of the environment has left us with, at times, a movement that has yet to address the needs of fighting climate change immediately-- instead, calling for the slow changing of emissions from various parts of industrial life-- and protecting the biggest contributions to their myriad organizations. When budgets and mainstream appearances with politicians become the order of the day, effective protest is muted and rendered toothless.

The Pew works with Nuclear: "industry and environmental cooperation"

This has to stop! The "Pew Charitable Trusts" are NOT the allies of the earth. The Tar Pits are expanding, making MAJOR amounts of money and are doing so through the back door route of funding the Pew with money made from the Tar Pits. If this "trust" gives an organization you care about money, get them out. They are soaked in oil, they are from the Pew Family, who run Sunoco, who refine tar sand guck and more importantly INVENTED the process.

CALGARY (CP) _ The National Energy Board, Canada‘s federal energy regulator, says its hearings days increased six-fold last year thanks to a hot energy sector.

The NEB Annual reports says the regulator spent 141 days last year hearing applications for development to Canada‘s energy sector; nearly one-third devoted to the multi-billion dollar Mackenzie Gas Project.

Sunoco Gives More to Democrats now than Republicans

The tactic being assumed by all the major players in the tarsands as of late is to pretend to love the earth too, but just that they have a different idea of what it will take to save the atmosphere and, well, life. This is right up the alley of the Democratic Party, who have a long history of pretending to care about green causes while assassinating all legislative and participatory attempts to make them back it up.

Would someone please tell the Sierra Club Exec Board that the idea of an “environmentally friendly car” makes as much sense as a “non-violent death penalty?” While the vast majority of those concerned with global warming consider reduction of unneeded production to be at the core of a sane policy, the Sierra Club has endorsed a plan that includes virtually no role for conservation.
